Friday Flash Fiction 55 - Oh, Nurse! One Manhattan!

"There's an article online that claims consuming  four alcoholic beverages per week has health benefits", he stated.
"Oh?" She remarked.
"So I thought a Manhattan would hit the spot tonight."
She pulled the Lego Club magazine out of his hand and whacked his head.
"WHAT?! Think of the benefits by the time I'm fifteen! DANG!"

SO FINALLY, I get a chance to write out a 55 again. This one is inspired by my fourteen year old son making a statement about the health benefits of consuming up to four alcoholic beverages a week.
Glad to be back. Thanks to The G-Man for being so vociferous (thank you, Juana en Tejas) about my job getting in the way of 55 offerings.
XOXO, m'dear!

  1. I'll stoop to endless depths to return the Lost to the Flock. (I don't mean that in a cultish way either)
Real Life is always the best inspiration.

  3. Ah, She of the shriveled, little, black heart has heard our pleas. She also seems to be taking very good care of her little cub. I hope the bunny garnering has been going well. It sounds so lovely. You've made me want to learn about plants. You've made my bunnies make me want to learn more about plants. Oh, Black Hearted One, I thank you.

  10. Aunties Forever! Alot of us have had to trade in family members for kindlier creatures. Our world has so much healing to do, and we can not always be a part of the lives of our biological family, but you are still a part of an enormous circle of love. Be of good cheer and give Speedy the hug I can't give him. AJ

    1. Hugs given to Speedy as Always!Thank you Jane,I learn to take or leave my sister a long time ago she knows how to contact me if she needs or wants me,its just sad sometimes as I'm not aloud to speak to my niece any more, but thats my sister a silly squabble is a big drama and blown out of proportion into a supernova and then she holds a grudge and its all your fault, its just sometimes something reminds me of how sad it is for my niece. That saying "You can't pick your family but you can pick you friends" is so true.Don't worry sadness gone and now I'm of good cheer,xx Rachel

  13. Brandi, I got to tell this story at the knit shop the other day. It has a big hit. Everyone was talking about rascally sons so I was very glad to have some material. There were tears of laughter. Hope you had a great Mother's Day!

  14. Hi, Brandi, the weather you all are having is really worrisome. Let us know how you are.

  15. Oklahoma City is usually not in danger of tornados. For some reason, they always pass to the south and to the north of us. Always. My son insists it because of very slight temperature variations, which is why they tend to follow along highways as well and big cities hardly ever get hit at all.
Shawnee got hit bad. They are about 45 minutes east of us on I40.
My brother in law was at his mothers house in Shawnee and took a picture with his phone of the tornado that wiped out a trailer park.
We are ok here. Like I said, our tornados follow a very predictable pattern. Piedmont to Deer Creek to Edmond.

    1. Ok, I was side by side news 4 weather chasers on the interstate as they were reporting live on the lowering of a BIG baby tornado. I take back what I said about predictable patterns!!!! Cuz I was almost home, hyperventilating, trying not to panic...and now I have to pee real bad.

    1. My niece went to one of the schools, Briarwood, and thank you JESUS, we just found out this morning she is fine. The world feels upside down. I feel so thankful to God for what I have in this world. Some people lost EVERYTHING yesterday, and their property, too.

    1. Awww! Thanks G! I am only working once a week at Walgreens now, just to keep my employee discount, of course. Since I am pretty much oncall 24/7 now for the job I enjoy doing (subcontracting as a collector for urine drug screens and breath alcohol tests), I have a LOT more freedom to be at home and mind my bloggin'! Make sure you keep us updated on your new homie.

  18. Brandi, I approved of your characterization of creation. I am not a bunny, but I did approve. Of course there is still the all important, theologically troubling question of cats. How does one explain cats? By the way, I stumbled across a lecture by Michael Himes. It is called something like Last Lectures. He taught at Boston College. I thought you might be interested? Peace, AJ
