Mr. Hippity Hopson

A few weeks ago, I was paying special attention to my Minnie Girl's tail. I wanted to reach into the pen and goose it, but she was too far away and I couldn't reach. Her tail was on my mind when I got in the car and saw something shoot up my neighbor's driveway. It was moving very fast, and if I had not had a rabbit tail on my mind, I would have thought it was a cat. But this creature, that I only witnessed for a microsecond, had a rabbit tail. I got out of the car and walked up the drive, and there he was, a white and brown bunny rabbit, eating grass. I tried to catch him, but he would only let me come so close before he would hop a few hops away. I managed to see that he was very comfortable under my house. I have been leaving food and water out for him. He will ignore the hay and pellets, but devour the oats. Tonight I put a plate of warm organic pumpkin puree under the house for him. It is a cold night. I worry about him every waking moment.
I am thinking he is attracted to my house because of the overwhelming rabbit smells coming from it. He is not terrified of me, and in fact will let me come very close, then he will take a hop or two in the other direction and carry on with his grass nomming.  He did binky away from me this evening, the wascawy wabbit.
So, what I need is advice on how to trap him so I get him into the house to live the life of luxury to which he is entitled. I do not believe in coincidences and I know The Good Lord sent Mr. Hopson my way, at this time of year no less, to offer my services as loyal rabbit slave. Why kowtow over just three rabbits when I can grovel over four?
Oh, and how do I know Mr. Hopson is a Mister and not a Miss? I just do. I. Just. Do.

    1. Definitely. I slept all day yesterday and today, even though the house is a disaster, my only plan is to clean the bunny pen and kitchen and make sure my work clothes are clean for the week. Mr. Bubbles did laundry this weekend (some), so I plan on being lazy today. My father-in-law is going for his first chemo treatment (stomach cancer) on Thursday and my nephew is having his tonsils removed the same morning. I might try to take that day off, but I would honestly rather go to work.
When it rains, it pours. I could not get a job to save my soul in my field, so I settled on a minimum wage job at Walgreens full time in cosmetics. I just love it. I have to say, it is fun, I enjoy the people I work with, I love the free samples and all the girly-ness and most of all I love being appreciated by management. I also know that I have a job as long as I want one with Walgreens and they are a financially stable company. Oh, and my employee discount is great.
Then the other day I get an email from the guy who owns a company in New York that I used to subcontract with collecting drug screens and performing alcohol breath tests post-accidents, randoms, post-injury for D.O.T. and private companies during off-hours. He said the same facility that shit canned us trying to save a few pennies wanted to start using us again (realizing you gotta spend those few extra pennies in the long run for great customer service if you don't want to lose those clients!) and would I be interested in collecting again. I told him Hell Yes, I would love to do it again. But this would be after five p.m. and on weekends. I was making good money doing these collections, even though it had all the drawbacks that subcontracting has, such as sporadic pay and never knowing when a call would come in. I did love the traveling, though, going out of town to collect. It was a ridiculous amount of money for ten minutes of actual work. And it actually was the reason I wanted my conceal carry license, because of the odd hours and traveling.
So I will have Walgreens in the daytime during the week, and then doing drug collections during the off-hours and weekends. At one time last year, the drug collections was my only job and the money was good enough I felt no need to find another job at all.
Honestly, I would not go back to clinical laboratory work now if they paid me twice what I was making when I left CPL. I am fanatically loyal to my employers and as long as Walgreens treats me well, I will not leave, even if the pay is shit. The discount and my obsession with Balance Rewards makes up for it. Sort of. LOL.

  5. Brandi, I have also thought that rabbits began to visit our house after I began fostering. I had never seen a wild rabbit in the neighborhood before. Is Mr. Hopson a domesticated bunny?

    1. He is a domestic bunny. We don't get cottontails this far into town. He's a biggun, too. Last night he let me get as close as he ever let me and I tried giving him baby lettuce mix, but he was not interested at all and just ate the grass. Then I tried to make a move for him and he happily hippity hopped his cute little ass into the next yard through a hole in the fence. I think I am just going to get a trap and stick a banana and some other nommilicious goodies in it. I need to get him before it gets hot and there are a lot of stray dogs in my neighborhood. I chased off a male pit bull puppy the other day. Normally, I would feed stray dogs and try to find the owners, but with Hopson around, I won't tolerate strays in the yard.
Great googly moogly! I went from a dyed in the wool dog person to a rabid rabbit person!
