  1. Brandi, I heard there was an earthquake in Oklahoma? Did you get any rain. Apparently, no one gets my e-mails. Does Meany Girl really deserve the meany things you say about her? Speedy never says anything mean about anybody. How's the bedroom coming? Juana

    1. I have not gotten an email from you, J. I felt one of the earthquakes but I am from Los Angeles originally and there is nothing in tall enough or developed enough in Oklahoma that could cave in or fall on me except some pecan trees and the Devon Tower of Babel. One is too far away, and our pecan tree has lost a lot of branches. lol. Oh, my bedroom is clean enough, but I have had to pen up all the bunnies for chewing cords and cables and Myra D and Minnie are fighting like boxing hares. THey are leaping in the air, trying to kill and/or disembowel each other. One minute they are happy go lucky and sitting cheek to cheek eating peaceful. Then I hear a thump and a growl and it's like a scene from Wild Kingdom. They got to each other good last night while they were out of the pen and getting their run in. Minnie tore huge chunks of fuzz off of Myra and ripped some skin open between her dewlap and neck. Myra D. scraped up Minnie's ears good and both almost lost an eye, close, but thank You JESUS, it was ok. So I Metacamed them up last night for pain and put them in their respective pens. Then this afternoon, Minnie was shivering and had her head down, so I scooped her up, wrapped her in a fleece blanket, brought her into bed and smothered her with blankets til she got sick of me and warmed up. Now she is running around my room with Meanie getting her blood going.
Myra D. had cold ears too, but I was able to just rub on them and get them warm. She is pretty alert and eating like a piggy bunn, so I am not too worried about her like Coldy McShivers Minnie. Mostly I was worried about Minnie because she was starting to go into stasis the other day, but I managed to get her out of it quick.
Meany Girl DESERVES to have shit talked about her. She is MEAN. And somewhat evil. But she considers us humans, and especially me, to be peasants beneath her notice. So I could insult her mother and she could care less. I am sure her higher intellect keeps her from understanding my neanderthal-like speech, so I doubt she even knows I am referring to her. She does know her name and when I clap my hands at her to get her to stop being a bully, she glares at me like she just realized a piece of dogshit was speaking, thumps back, and continues on her mean merry way.

  2. Brandi, I know that bunny, only s/he is not a bunny. Seriously, welcome to my world but without long ears and fluffy tails. I left a message for RG, before I read your message here. I was trying to discourage him from letting their bunnies play together. Early on in my journey with bunnies I was told about a really heart breaking bunny pairing failure. Of corse, it's great for the bunns, and one of the services of the shelter is to try to pair up our bunns, but there is just a small group of volunteers who do it, it is all they do, and a fair number of times they fail. I hope your babes all recover. My question about your bedroom was just a wish that a certain member of your family was happy/reconciled to its status. I did not know how serious the weather had been until just a minute ago. I apologize to anyone who sees my "let it rain" comment and is suffering from tornadoes and flooding. I just have spent so much of my life in places where people believe that today and tomorrow they need every drop of water that comes their way. Stay safe and tell the bunns to get well soon. Te queremos, Juanna.

    1. They are doing fine now. I wish I could let them all out together for run time, but I can only let them out three at a time, and never with Myra and Minnie together.

  4. I am really sorry, but I think we both know little girls who don't play nicely together. They often don't seem to have any good reason for their little grudges, but once they get them going...well, you know. I hope you got to see the 60 Minutes segment where the dogs parachuted with their soldiers. Juana.

  5. Brandi, I was at the shelter yesterday and today. We have the sweetest bunnies. Sometimes, I think it is just the volunteers who are rowdy. Anyway, a board member/volunteer/works harder than anyone else, came in with a T-shirt that had a bunn looking straight at you and underneath the words,"Make My Hay." Hope all goes well, actually alot better than that. Jane

I must to have that shirt. Where did she get it?
You have a BETTER day. And no wrecks!
Kiss the bunnies for me. I am so glad they have a haven, safe from predators and buttheads alike. I have to take a trip down there sometime and love up on the bunns. I could bring an ass-ton of cardboard boxes! We get the best boxes at work...

  6. You are always welcome! I will ask where the T-shirt came from. Love, Juana

  7. Hi, Brandi, I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you on the T-shirt. I definitely will. Now for the scolding, "You do not get to play with scissors." Out of scolding mode now. My e-mail is very aberrant. A while back I sent you a link about Native American artifacts being auctioned in France. I don't know if you got. My e-mail makes me worry. I can send it again if you think you might be interested. I love it that you are out gathering for your bunnies. Your day sounded so beautiful and the bunns were happy, happy, happy. Hard to ask for more. But, Brandi we heard about this terrific hailstorm in Oklahoma. Very, very scary. I am hoping for very little damage and that it's melting left things well watered. Now about those boxes...our little bunns have a new chant - Brandi Boxes, Brandi Boxes, Brandi Boxes! It kind of makes you sorry you keep them in the loop. Be well, be happy, Peace and Blessings, AJ. Oh, don't be too embarrassed but you and yours always have a friend in Austin. I know, I know, what a disgrace. Well, just don't let the word get out.

  8. I did NOT get an email about native American artifacts being auctioned in France. People who would buy that stuff need just spend the money on a tour of the American Southwest. I met a nice Swedish couple the other day that were traveling Route 66! Crazy fun.
I am back to doing the job I love the most, which is being a subcontractor with a company in New York that contracts with Concentra to collect drug screens and breath alcohol tests after hours. Post accident, post injury, random, suspicious cause, etc. It is THE easiest job ever, I am my own boss, the money is crazy good for the time I have to put in, which is mostly driving to the site. The actual collection takes about ten minutes TOPS.
Sure, it means I am on call for the whole weekend and all night long, but this time around, they are even giving me work during business hours collection drug screens on-site as needed.
Still keeping my job at Walgreens, though. I LOVE my employee discount and the people I work with are great. But I am going to have adjust my hours to accommodate the on-site collections during business hours.
I am an EXPERT at finding bunny boxes.
Oh, and it is NOT outside the scope of possibilities that I would have to travel to Texas for a job site. If the money is right, I am there.
Love to you and the bunnies!!!

  9. Wow, this is so cool, Brandi. We long to see you at the front door. The bunnies send their love back as do I, but the bunnies want you to pray for them too.

    1. My heart is in constant prayer for bunnies. And the little birdies, too. I always worry about them in the winter cold.

  10. Oh, Brandi, since my e-mail went awry, you didn't get a copy of a prayer I liked. I had just stumbled across it. What touched me the most was the beginning where the Mother of God was asked to remember all those whose names She could read written on my heart.

  11. Hmmmm, yep, I'd say G-Man has caught the flavor of some of the separation anxiety going on around here.
